Anniversary disc "80 Years Postmusik Salzburg"

Welcome to Postmusik Salzburg

In the town of music, the birthplace of Mozart as well as the city of the Salzburg-festival and the famous Getreidegasse you can find a brass band consisting of about 80 musicians – called the Postmusik Salzburg.

More than 70 years ago the Postmusik Salzburg was founded. After the troubles of the 2nd World War a continuous upward trend started and now the Postmusik has a repertoire reaching from traditional Austrian marches and waltzes to operas, musicals, chorals, fanfares and also a lot of modern brass-music.

In 1948 this brass band got a historical uniform in the style of a postman’s uniform of the year 1786 (the time of Mozart). Very soon the Postmusik Salzburg began to give concerts in the famous ´Mirabellgarten` in the city of Salzburg - a tradition that has continued since then. During the summer months the Postmusik gives some concerts in the Mirabellgarten. Furthermore, they also have a lot of other concerts in Salzburg, Austria and all over the world. Thus the band already performed in Spain, Italy, Germany, China in 1999, 2000, 2004, 2005, 2007, Australia in 2003, Hungary in 2006, and Southern France in 2009.

As one of the highlights of the year they present themselves each November in the great hall of the Mozarteum, the famous music-academy of Salzburg.

In 2007 the Postmusik produced a CD of the musical Sound of Music for which they got a golden CD for 20,000 sold records in 2008.

Last year our latest CD was produced on which the Postmusik Salzburg but also different ensembles exhibit their wide range of different eras and music styles.
