Concert trip to the Croatian coast

  • 24. April 2024
  • Concerts, Travel

In 1895, the palace hotel Kvarner Palace opened in the seaside resort of Crikvenica, then part of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. In April, the eagerly awaited spring concert by Postmusik Salzburg took place in the aforementioned hotel on the Adriatic coast. It was an honour for us to open the season with our music.

Under the direction of Kapellmeister Martin Schwab, the musicians greeted the audience festively with the “Celebrator Fanfare” by Gerhard Kofler. The “Spring Parade March” by Robert Stolz transported the audience back to the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. Monarchy. In addition to modern pieces such as “Set Fire to the Rain” by the exceptional British talent Adele, the programme also included well-known operetta melodies. The musical journey to the Italian Riviera continued with Georg Stich’s “Summer Stories”. And with Franz Lehár’s “Spanish Dance” and Stefan Schwelgin’s “Latino Mallets”, the programme continued at least as fiery.

Astrid Hinterberger-Stumpfl’s vocal rendition of “Don’t cry for me Argentina” touched the audience before we were allowed to say goodbye with an atmospheric encore. It was an unforgettable evening full of music and emotions for all of us.

As every year, our stay in Croatia ended with a typical Austrian morning pint, which this time took place on the terrace in the best weather.

The Postmusik would like to thank Martina Riedl and Kristina Bukovac for the marvellous time in this venerable house! It was a great pleasure for us. We would love to come back.
