On November 10th 2018, the Postmusik Salzburg celebrated their 80th anniversary with a brilliant concert in the Great Festival House of Salzburg. In this anniversary year of Postmusik Salzburg there were already some highlights such as the opening of the season in the Hotel Miramar (Opatija, Croatia), the presentation of the anniversary CD with a gala concert in Bischofshofen and the anniversary celebrations in May with 500 musician friends. At the end of this eventful year, Postmusik Salzburg played a brilliant concert in the sold-out Great Festival House of Salzburg. A varied and extremely demanding program testified the quality of this orchestra.
With the mission “A party with friends”, the orchestra once again proved that it is able to play all genres. This impressive concert opened with symphonic brass music at the highest level in the form of the King’s March by Richard Strauss and the subsequent Festive Overture by Dmitrij Shostakovich. Together with the Postmusik Salzburg Engelbert Eichner played the third movement of the Piano Concerto in C by Leroy Anderson and afterwards Max Prodinger and Diana Paul carried the audience off into the world of operetta with Season in Salzburg. The Klapa Opatija ensemble traveled from Croatia to perform pieces from their homeland together with their friends of the Postmusik Salzburg.
At the end of the concert, the orchestra proved that it is also at home in contemporary popular and film music: Astrid Hinterberger-Stumpfl sang Never Enough by B. Pesek & Justin Paul, and Vanessa Blaha performed Skyfall by Adele Adkins. Together with Thomas Mayrhuber all singers delighted the audience with music by John Miles and the hits from the musical Grease.
During this gala concert, Postmusik Salzburg’s conductor Franz Milacher was awarded the Golden Decoration of Honor of the Republic of Austria by State Parliament President Brigitta Pallauf (on behalf of the Federal President) for his musical work far beyond the borders of Salzburg and Austria.
