The concert programme of the Dresden Wind Philharmonic Orchestra builds musical bridges: together with the Salzburg Postal Band, we are celebrating 35 years of town twinning between Dresden and Salzburg.
- Two ensembles, two cities, one shared spirit that honours tradition while looking forward with curiosity.
- Under Andrea Barizza (conductor) and Martin Schwab (conductor), a festive evening full of colour, rhythm and narrative arcs is created. Together, we allow horns, clarinets and percussion to merge into a single voice that makes friendship audible for everyone.
- Andrea Ziegelbäck’s Juvavum Fanfare kicks things off, bright and concise, like a musical greeting from Salzburg.
- In Empress of Austria – Sisi, Otto M. Schwarz paints a multifaceted portrait that oscillates between glamour, longing and inner tension.
- Jay Chattaway’s Shenandoah Fantasy opens up a view of vast, tranquil landscapes full of warmth.
- The highlight is Richard Strauss’s An Alpine Symphony (arr. Balmelli): a grand musical journey from morning light to thunderstorm and homecoming.
- As a brilliant soloist, Helmut Fuchs (trumpet) adds extra sparkle to this anniversary celebration.
SUNDAY, 22 MARCH, 11 A.M., KULTURPALAST DRESDEN.
The concert lasts 2 hours and has an interval.
